Ronald McDonald House Stamp-a-Stack - an amazing success!

Our 4th Annual Ronald McDonald House Stamp-a-Stack is now complete.  Thank you to everyone who attended on Saturday and made the event a success.  We had 45 stampers who created 8 beautiful Christmas and Thank you cards.  We raised $4000 from ticket sales, raffle tickets and a 50/50 draw!  Woohoo!  Thank you so much to everyone that supported us.  It feels so wonderful to give back to such an amazing cause.

Woodland Embossing Folder - How do you get the images in the background?

Have you seen the pictures of card and projects made with the Woodland Embossing Folder that have images behind the trees and wondered "how did they do that?"  Well I did and then my friend Ginny gave me a lesson - it's so easy!

To get this effect you ink and stamp DIRECTLY ON THE WOODLAND embossing folder. Yes, that's right! It looks and feels, well, weird! when doing but once embossed...gorgeous results!

Here's the card I made.

Steps:
  1. You want to apply the ink on the inside of the embossing folder that achieves the raised portions. For this folder it's the inside section where you can see the logos (Sizzix).  So holding the folder with the Sizzix logo on the bottom left - open it up and stamp on the top portion of the folder
  2. Using the Stampin' Up! Ink Pad, wipe the pad directly across the folder - I used Marina Mist for the sky and Pool Party for the snow.  I started with the Pool Party and then the Marina Mist.  To avoid getting a line at the point the two colours meet - blend slightly
  3. Stamp background image DIRECTLY to the embossing folder. A darker ink colour than the background pops the image best.  I used Garden Green for the trees using the Christmas Tree from Lovely as a Tree.  Make sure your stamp is well inked otherwise your trees will be quite light.
  4. To finish off I added a sentiment in Soft Suede and some Jute ribbon and Linen Thread and adhered to the front of the card.
  5. Finally I used Clear Wink of Stella on the snow and the trees - it's hard to see in this picture.
  6. The card base is Garden Green (8 1/2" x 5 1/2" - scored and folded at 4 1/4") and the mat is Marina Mist (5 1/4" x 4").
Can you think of other sets to use with this technique?  I can't wait to try!

Happy Stamping!

Are you getting ready for Christmas?

I can't believe that we are into November already - where does the time go?  Have you started on your Christmas shopping and Christmas cards?  Do you send Christmas cards?  I know that many people don't send cards these days, but I know I love to both send and receive cards!  It seems to be the one time of year when we all hear from friends and family.

The Stampin' Up! Holiday catalogue is full of ideas for quick and easy cards that you can make.  Are you interested in learning how and making some cards to send out?  I'm holding my Make and Take Tuesday on November 22nd at 7pm.  This month we'll make 3 Christmas cards and you'll have the option of making up to 6 cards if you like.  The cost is $15 for the first 3 cards and $2 for each additional card. Interested?  You can RSVP for this event by clicking here.

I've been having fun making some cards that I will be sending out to my friends and family.  Some of them are a little more involved than others.

My first card uses the Christmas Pines stamp set and the coordinating Pretty Pines Thinlet Dies.  I wasn't sure about using Emerald Envy and Real Red together, but I love how this turned out.  You can purchase this stamp set and dies as a bundle and save 10% - Item 143496)

This group of cards uses the Merriest Wishes stamp set and Merry Tags Framelit dies - again available as a bundle (Item 143519 Wood and Item 143520 Clear).  This is my favourite bundle in this years catalogue.

My final share is the Father Christmas stamp set (Item 142122 Wood and Item 142125 Clear).  This card is a little more involved - lots of colouring with markers and some sponging.  I used clear Wink of Stella on the beard and fur trim and gold Wink of Stella on the toy bag. The greeting is stamped in Versamark and then embossed with the Real Red Glitter embossing powder.  A couple of little jingle bells with some gold twine finishes off the card.

Ronald McDonald House Stamp-a-Stack

I'm excited that the 4th Annual Ronald McDonald House Stamp-a-Stack is less than 3 weeks away.  We are almost sold out - only 6 spots left.  If you are interested in attending, please reserve and pay as soon possible.  The cost is $65.  You'll make 8 cards - 4 Christmas and 4 Thank You.  If you want to register, you can click here.  Don't wait or you may miss out.
