More shares from the Holiday Catalogue

Saturday 30 August 2014

As I mentioned in my last post the new Holiday Catalogue is now available.  I haven't had a lot of time to play with my products but I wanted to share some amazing creations made by some friends.

First a stunning card made by Elaine Paget.  Elaine has used the Bright and Beautiful stamp set (Item 135029) and coordinating Star framelits (Item 133723) to make this card.  Purchase the bundle and save 15% (Item 138200) I love it!
Here's the inside...

Here's a card created by Ginny Duncan using the Seasonally Scattered stamp set (Item 135023).  It's hard to see the glitter she added.  I love the colours she's chosen - Lost Lagoon paired with Pear Pizazz.

Finally a twisted easel card made by Jenn Tinline using the Wonderous Wreath stamp set (Item 135047) and coordinating framelits (Item 135851).  You can purchase both the stamp set and framelits as a bundle and save 15% (Item 137624).
If you haven't received your Holiday Catalogue, email me and I'll send one to you.  I'm booking stamping parties now for the fall.  If you want to gather some of your friends and play with some of the fabulous new products email me and well find a date that works.   Hold a party with $325 in sales between now and October 31 and you'll receive the Good Greetings stamp set FREE!

Here it is...the BEST Holiday Catalog ever!

I love this catalogue.  Here's a peek at a Card I made using the Christmas Bauble Stamp set.  I knew when I saw this stamp that I wanted to make a vintage card using Blendabilities to colour the stamp.  I love how this turned out.

Ideas for Cards using Bundles from the Annual Catalogue

Tuesday 26 August 2014

I received some amazing cards in a swap I participate in that use the various bundles in the Annual Catalogue that often include Framelits.  I wanted to share some of the amazing cards created by some very talented ladies.

First of all a card from Elaine Paget.  I loved this card when I received it - hand delivered at Convention.  Elaine has used the Flower Patch Polymer stamp set and the coordinating Flower Fair Framelits (Bundle Item 136788) to create this amazing easel card.
Isn't this stunning!!  Elaine embossed the inside of the flower and the sentiment with gold.  I knew this would be a card that I cased and here's my version.  I changed up the colours as I'm in love with Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey - two of the new in colours for this year.  I really like how this turned out and I hope the person that received it for an upcoming birthday will too.

I received 3 cards that all used the Something for Baby Stamp set and the coordinating Baby's First Framelits (Bundle Item 136791).  All different but all so pretty!

First the card by Sue Farrant.  This is so pretty using the Silver Encore Ink and silver embellishments.
I love this card by Ellie Blake - a stepped card in Smoky Slate and Pink Pirouette.
Finally the card made by Diane Evans - love this in Lost Lagoon!

Stay tuned for more of my "bundled" swaps.

Don't forget the Holiday Catalogue is now available and you can place your order as of August 28th.  If you haven't received your catalogue, email me and I'll get it to you.  If you want to place an order, I'll be submitting one on August 28th just email me your order!

Traveler Sample Set

Tuesday 19 August 2014

I wanted to share with you some samples made with the Traveler stamp set (Item 134510 - Wood; Item 134513-Clear).  This was one of those stamps sets that I knew I wanted when I saw it in the catalogue.

First of all, I had previously shared a swap that I received from my friend Yvonne Jackson but also want to share with you the amazing inside of her card.

Her card is beautiful from the outside but when you open it there is a surprise waiting for you.  She floated some hand cut images using window sheets.  I love this card - it's an alternative to Card in a Box cards I've been making and teaching lately. Thanks Yvonne for the great idea!

These are some of the cards I received at Convention from some talented demonstrators in Canada and the US.  Sorry I don't have the names for some of the demonstrators but if these are your cards, let me know and I'll happily credit you!
Card made by my friend Alison Solven

If you would like any information on these cards or other ideas for this amazing Stamp set, please leave a comment or send me an email.

My Paper Pumpkin

Saturday 16 August 2014

I've talked about the promotion for My Paper Pumpkin in previous blog postings, but I wanted to share with you some of the projects from the August kit.  Mine arrived yesterday - directly to my door!  I couldn't wait to open it as I had seen a sneak peek at the Stampin' Up! Convention in July - I couldn't take any pictures or share with you.  I loved it when I saw it and my kit didn't disappoint!

First of all the box that arrived...
Now the contents...
And the finished products

I love the cut outs that are included - Congrats, Thanks, Hello and Smile as well as the heart and star.  There is sequin included so I couldn't resist creating this small shaker frame card.  I actually used a small piece of the window sheet that covers one side of the polymer stamps (maybe shouldn't have done that, but it worked) and some Shaker Frames that I had on hand.  Here's the finished product.

Of course you don't have to do anything more with the kit than create the beautiful cards that are designed for it.

You can sign up for Paper Pumpkin and take advantage of the half off promotion until September 10th.  The project for September is really cute too!  Use the code HALFOFF2 when you join and you receive Paper Pumpkin for 50% off for your first two months.  After that you pay only $24.95 plus tax per month (shipping is included).  Click here to learn more and to sign up!

Have fun!

Summer Heat Wave... and Embossing Techniques!

Tuesday 12 August 2014

It's been very hot on the west coast this year but finally this morning we woke up to a little bit of rain.  Hopefully that will cool it down a little bit and give our poor grass that is brown some refreshment.  The one good thing about the heat is that I've been spending lots of time down in my craft room which is in the basement - staying cool!

I wanted to share with you some techniques that you can use with your embossing folders.  I love embossing folders! Here are some ideas...

With a Big Shot or Texture Boutique

For the longest time I only used them by running them through my Big Shot with the paper inside to create amazing texture.  That's just one way to use them. Insert your card stock inside your embossing folder and run it through the Big Shot with your platform on Tab 2.  Ta Da!  It creates amazing texture that pops up your card.

This sample was made with the Lovely Lace Embossing folder (Item 133737).

Ink them Up

I've posted the next cards a few times - I love this card and the stamp set - Kinda Eclectic.  In this case, I lightly inked up one side of the embossing folder using the Crumb Cake ink pad and then put my card stock in and gently tapped it to transfer the ink.  It adds a cool dimension to the card.  You can then put your envelope in the embossing folder and do the same - no re-inking necessary!

Ink On Top

The last technique is to emboss your card stock and then take your Ink Pad (I used Marina Mist paper and ink pad) and run it over the embossed image.  For the first card I tried only to ink up the raised image but in the second card I pressed harder and inked up most of the image.  I love both of these!

Big Shot Promotion

If you don't have a a Big Shot, there is a great promotion from Stampin' Up! on until August 31st.  If you by a Big Shot you can choose from one of five bundles for FREE!  Bundles include a stamp set and coordinating Framelits!  If you already own a Big Shot, you can purchase a bundle at a 15% discount.

Check out the deal here.

Looking for a WOW card to send? Check out Card in a Box!

Sunday 10 August 2014

I love making a card in a box because I can just imagine the look on the recipient's face when it is open.  These cards fold flat to mail and fit into a regular envelope but when they open they magically open into a 3-dimensional surprise.

Check out the cards we will be making in my upcoming Card in a Box class on August 14th from 7-9pm. There's still room for you if you'd like to register.  Email me or click here to register.

Uses Maritime DSP, Glimmer paper and Silver  Fancy Foil Designer Vellum with Star Framelits
Uses Polka Dot Pieces Stamp Set with Park Lane DSP
Uses Flower Patch Stamp Set and coordinating Flower Fair Framelits
Box:  Card Stock cut to 8 ¾" x 5 ½" and scored at ¼", 2 ⅜", 4 ½" and 6 ⅝" on the long side then turn and score at 2 ¾" on the short side.  Cut down to the centre score line on the 4 score lines from the top and cut out the small tab on the side (leaving the bottom tab).  Fold your box along the score lines - I don't fold down one tab that will be the back.

Inserts: Cut Card Stock 2 ⅝" x ½" scored at ¼" and 2 ⅜".  Apply double sided tape to each side - I put the tape on the opposite side and fold one tab forward and one backward.

DSP:  Cut pieces 1 ⅞" by 2 ½" - I use different DSP around the bottom of the box and on the inside of the box, but this is your preference.  You need 7 pieces in total.

Back:  Cut Whisper White or Very Vanilla Card Stock 5 ¼" by 1 ⅞".  This becomes the back of the box and you can stamp a sentiment on this piece.

Decorations:  You can decorate as you wish.  Stamp sets with coordinating punches like Polka-Dot Pieces (Item # 128708) or with coordinating framelits like Flower Patch (Item #134207) and Flower Fair (Item #133731) make it really easy.

If you have questions with the instructions, leave a comment or email me.

Come and join the fun at my class -  Email me or click here to register.
Have fun making these cards that are sure to surprise anyone who receives one!

Canada Inks Up! Convention Swap

Wednesday 6 August 2014

One of the most fun things at the Stampin' Up! Convention is the swapping of cards that goes on.  It's amazing - it starts almost as soon as you meet a fellow demonstrator at the airport in Salt Lake City and continue through out Convention.  It's so much fun to exchange cards (usually just card fronts) - I get great ideas and samples made from stamp sets that I often don't have.   Each year Alison Solven's Downline Group - Canada Inks Up! does a swap - we usually make cards that are a little fancier than in the general swaps.

My swap card was created using the new Stampin' Up! Blendabilities - these are alcohol markers and I love them.  Stay tuned for a future posting about Blendabilities.
Definitely some WOW cards this year!

Card by Alison Solven using Traveler Stampset
Card by Karen Gilbert using Bloom with Hope (Hostess Set) and Blendabilities
Card by Yvonne Jackson using the Traveler Stamp set - stay turned for more pictures of this card in an upcoming blog as it has a surprise on the inside
It is such fun being part of this team of very creative ladies. I'll share other cards in an upcoming post.

Don't forget to check out the new Weekly Deals from Stampin' Up!

Happy Stamping!
