Chalkboard Technique

The chalkboard technique is all the rage these days - you see it everywhere including on TV commercials.  Just yesterday I noticed a coffee commercial that was using chalkboard writing.  I have to do some playing to see if I can re-create using different colours of chalk.  Stay tuned!

I made this card for my god son's birthday.  I like how this turned out and I think it's masculine enough.  This is really an easy technique, but looks so effective.  I used include Whisper White Kraft Ink to stamp the images (from the ClockWorks stamp set and the Perfectly Penned stamp set) and then sprinkled white embossing powder over and heated.   To give it the dusty chalk appearance, use a sponge dauber and lightly sponge with Whisper White Kraft Ink.

A couple of tips:
  • Use an embossing buddy and wipe over the black card stock to remove static so the embossing powder doesn't stick where you don't want it to
  • Stamp one image at a time, sprinkle on white embossing powder, shake off the extra and then heat.  Then do the other images

It's all ready to go into the mail - a little early, but I'm getting ready to head out on and adventure to Singapore.  I'll be working on a contract there for about 2 months.  I'm leaving mid February and won't be back until late April or early May.  I'm getting so excited, but also have lots to get ready.  I will likely be blogging less than normal and will be focusing on My Digital Studio 2 while away. I can't take my craft room with me, but I will have my computer.  What a great opportunity to get some of my digital albums finished.  Stay tuned for some of the pictures of Singapore!

New Arrivals from Stampin' Up!

Hi everyone,

Finally home from a business trip to Phoenix where it wasn't typical desert weather - at least I don't think it is typical to have icy sidewalks in the desert.  We had about 4 days of temperatures close to freezing.  I was very glad I had brought along warmer clothes!

I wanted to share a couple of new arrivals from Stampin' Up!
 New Arrivals

Stampin' Up! will continue to offer single stamps until March 31, 2013.  There are some great new stamps to choose from that are available as unmounted clear stamps packaged in a cello bag. Check out full images and place your order by clicking here.

More Shares

Just a short post today to let you know that I've started my travel again for my "day job" so won't likely be posting quite so often for the next 10 days or so.  I'm off to Phoenix for a week - was really looking forward to some warm weather.  Looks like the temperatures aren't quite as warm as I was hoping - even going below freezing at night.  Brrr!

Stampin' Up! Leadership is on in Orlando - wish I could be there. It sounds like there are some amazing new offers coming in the next month or two.  Stay tuned for more information!

Here are a couple of more cards I've created with some of the new products from the SU! Spring Catalogue.  It's been fun playing with all of the products.  If want a catalogue and don't have one yet, email me and I'll make sure you get one.  Don't miss Sale-a-Bration that starts January 22nd - 1 free SAB product for every $60 you spend!

These two cards use the Creped Filter Paper (Item 129393) - so easy to make beautiful flowers in minutes.  I punched about 8-10 layers of paper using a scallop circle punch and then attached the layers using a brad.  Just scrunch them up and there you have a beautiful flower.  For these flowers, I spritzed them using Smooch Spritz to add some colour/shine.

Lots of fun today!

It was a rainy day in Vancouver - what a perfect day to stay inside and stamp!  Two friends came over and we went through the starter kits they just received when they signed up as Stampin' Up! demonstrators.  These ladies will most likely be using the supplies for themselves to create great card for family and friends.  When they signed up, they were able to customize their kits to coordinate so that they could share stamps, ink pads and paper.  Today we checked out their supplies and looked at what they should order next, and of course we created a card.

If you're interested in learning more about getting your own starter kit, email me or call me.  I'd be happy to help you choose everything you need to get started!  You can also check it out through my Stampin' Up Home page.

Sale-A-Bration starts on January 22nd.  Here's a couple of cards I created with some of the great products you can get during Sale-A-Bration.  For every $60 you spend, you can choose 1 product from the SAB catalogue.

I've used 2 different SAB stamp sets on this card - Feeling Sentimental and Madison Avenue.  Love them both!

If you haven't received your Spring Catalogue or the SAB Catalogue, email me or call me.  I'd be happy to send one to you.  You can check out the Spring Catalogue online and place your order through my online store as well.

Happy New Year

Here it is 2013 - where does the time go?  The holidays are over and it's time to get back to reality - feel a little bit sad about that, it's been fun relaxing and visiting with family and friends.  But I also always look forward to the new year - a bit of a "clean slate" and a chance to get organized.

As I mentioned in previous posts, I've had a chance to play with the new products in the Spring Catalogue and the Sale-a-Bration catalogue.  I wanted to share some more of my creation.

One of my favourite new products is the Honeycomb embossing folder (Item 129378).  I've got my fingers crossed for a hexagon punch, but for now, I ran designer series paper through the embossing folder and then cut out on the embossed lines.
This stamp set is from the Sale-a-Bration catalogue - Feeling Sentimental.  Definitely love this stampset - there are 3 different "vintagey" stamps as well as a sentiment.

The Clockworks stamp set (Item 127292-Clear and Item 127290 Wood) has to be one of my latest favourites.  I just ordered mine before Christmas and now wish I hadn't waited so long!  For this card I inked up the argyle embossing folder (Item 127750) with Basic Grey ink on the raised side and then ran Whisper White paper through.  For embellishments I used the Tea Time Trinkets (Item 129326)for the clock face and Old Olive 3/8" Striped Organdy Ribbon (Item 129291).  I definitely like the outcome!  We'll be making this card at my All Occasions class on January 26th.  Email me or click here to RSVP.

I'll share more cards over the next few days.
Happy stamping!
