Thinking of You

Wednesday 9 March 2011

I just love the "French Foliage" stamp set - I find myself using some of the stamps for multiple projects.  For example, it contains "words" and also a set of "splotches" that can be used as a background.  I used this technique in my pop-out card that I posted on March 7th - Pop Out Card.  If you stamp using a neutral colour such as Crumb Cake and then stamp off once (press your inked stamp lightly on paper to take some of ink off) and then stamp your card, it adds lovely detail to your card.

In this card, I've used the French Foliage set with Cherry Cobbler, More Mustard and Early Espresso colours.  The card front is actually cut in half to show the lattice embossing on the inside of the card and the button and ribbon detail.  I've also used the Scallop Trim Border Punch to add detail to the front.

The stamp off technique is used on both the front and inside of the card - I used Crumb Cake and Pear Pizzazz (this is one of my new favourite colours!).
Thanks for stopping by!  Happy Stamping!

Pop Out Cards

Monday 7 March 2011

I had a great time Saturday morning at a class given by my upline, Alison Solven.  We made two cards - a pop out card and a shadow box.  Alison has more information about her upcoming classes on her Stamp Crazy Blog. Her blog also has great information and techniques for new card ideas - you should check it out!
I was so excited about this technique that I decided to make a card for a friend's upcoming birthday. I used the pop out technique as well as some embossing techniques -  I used VersaMark and stamp pads to add colour for embossed images and used clear embossing resist to "pop" the flowers (I learned this technique at Regionals a couple of weeks ago).  Also used some sponging techniques in the card that I learned in Alison's class.
The card is made using the "Vintage Vogue" stamp set - I think this will become one of my favourites! using Elegant Eggplant, Pear Pizzazz and Crumb Cake as colours.
I love this technique and I'm pretty sure my friend will be thrilled with the card when she gets it!

If you're interested in learning how to make these cards, email me at melva_peters@telus.net and we can arrange a workshop. If you're interested in shopping, check out the catalogues list in the right column of my blog and email me.  There are great stamping ideas that I'd love to share with you.

Happy Birthday

Sunday 6 March 2011

March and April are busy "birthday" months - lots of family and friends celebrating!
These two cards are just the start of many that I need to make in the next few weeks.  This card uses the "Take a Spin" set.  The set includes 4 stamps that are amazingly versatile for celebrating birthdays, holidays and for celebrating great work or great people!
The cards use "spinner" brads that add some fun!

Stay tuned for more samples of birthday cards!

Welcome New Baby!

Saturday 5 March 2011

I have a friend who is expecting at the end of March.  This is the card that I made to celebrate the arrival of their new baby.

This card is made with one of the stamps from the "Fun and Fast Notes" set and uses So Saffron and Pear Pizzazz paper with So Saffron and Pear Pizzazz ribbon.  It's so easy to create beautiful cards when the paper, markers and ribbon all match :)
While I was at it, I made some "Happy New Baby" cards for and upcoming Swap.
This is the same design, but the stamp is one the many included in the "A Slice of Life" set.

My first foray into the world of blogging

My first foray into the world of blogging

So here I go!  I've been stamping and making paper crafts off and on for over 20 years, but have only recently gotten back to it.  And of course, I love it!  I've been learning all sorts of new techniques and remembering some of the ones I used to use.

I'll post some of the techniques I have been learning and using in the cards and paper crafts that I'm making.

I'm an independent Stampin' Up! demonstrator, so if you're interested in learning more, please contact me to talk about hosting a workshop.  You and your friends can learn some new techniques and have fun at the same time.  As the hostess, you can earn some great hostess gifts and free Stampin' Up merchandise.
