Christmas cards are in the mail - now I can share!

Saturday 17 December 2011

My Christmas cards are finally in the mail so I think it's safe to share them all with you.  I had a great time making cards this year, but I found myself running out of time. I always say I'm going to start early, but that never seems to happen.  This year I've been travelling a lot of work and so I wasn't sure I was going to get them finished on time.

I made 5 different cards this year trying out new techniques.  There were so many great stampsets and embellishments to choose from, I couldn't make just one card!

Stamp set - Snow Much Fun
Embossing Folder - Petals-a-Plenty
For this card I embossed the whisper white card stock with card board template frame on the embossing folder .  This embosses a frame and leaves the centre of the card to be stamped on!

As soon as I saw this Bigz L die at the Stampin Up Convention I knew that I had to make cards for some very special ladies with this.  I belong to Beta Sigma Phi and the ladies in my chapter are amazing people - every year I make special cards for them and hand deliver them at our Christmas party.  I know they are going to love these cards - again embossed with Petals-a-Plenty and embellished with the Red Glimmer paper and mini Jingle bells.

A twisted easel card made using the Contempo Christmas stamp set.  I used the ornament punch and the Shaker frames to make this card a shaker card using Champagne Glass Glitter.

A quick and easy card using the Delightful Decorations Stamp Set with Real Red and Basic Black ink.  The two red ornaments are popped up with Stampin Dimensionals and embellished with rhinestones.

This card was inspired by a card in Stampin Success - a monthly magazine published for Stampin Up Demonstrators.  I used the 25 & Counting stamp set and coloured with my markers onto the stamps so that I didn't include the numbers.  I love how this card turned out.

Now that my Christmas cards are finished I'm really looking forward to making some cards for Valentines Day and also some Birthday Cards.

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a happy and successful 2012.

Christmas Gift Holders

Tuesday 29 November 2011

My last creations as part of the Design Team that I have been participating are gift card holders.  I'd never made these before, but had fun making these.

The first one is made using the Matchbox Die for the Big Shot, but I extended the size by creating 2 bottoms and then making a cover by cutting cardstock in the length and width needed for the box.  I think it turned out amazing.

For the second gift card holder I used the Top Note die with a folded piece of paper.  I put the fold on the die just a little below where it would normally cut.  This gives a folded card in the shape of the top note.  I covered it with Designer Series Paper and added ribbon and a sentiment.

For the inside I used an envelope I sealed and then cut off part of the length.  A little glue to secure it in place and a saying.  I attached the gift card to a piece of cardstock with a little tag to make it easy to pull out the gift card.

Christmas is coming fast!  If you're interested in these ideas or any others, contact me and I'll help you make some great gift card holders!

Christmas Cards in Non Traditional Colours

Friday 18 November 2011

I've made a few cards that aren't in the traditional red and green colours of Christmas.  I love how they've turned out, so much so that I've decided that one set of my personal cards for family and friends will be in Early Espresso this year (I won't post so it will be a surprise for those that receive one!)

This card uses the Stitched Stocking Stamp Set and the co-ordinating stocking builder punch (page 34 of the Holiday Mini Catalogue).  The patterned paper is from the Mocha Morning Specialty DSP series.  I was so impressed with how this turned out!

I used the Serene Snowflakes stamp set (page 35 Idea Book and Catalogue) in Night of Navy, Bashful Blue and VersaMark and glitter.

Early Espresso and Pear Pizazz - what a pretty combination.  This card uses the Christmas Lodge stamp set (page 29 of the Holiday Mini Catalogue) and is very quick and easy, but makes a beautiful card.
If you're interested in learning how to make any of these cards or to purchase the supplies, please contact me.  Stampin' Up! is having an Online Extravaganza starting November 21st.  Between November 21st and November 30th, if you log in to my online store, you'll find some great deals as well as being able to purchase the supplies to make these cards.
There will be some special deals and "free" downloads for My Digital Studio that will only be available through the online store.

Happy Stamping!

Sharing some creations!

Monday 7 November 2011

Hi everyone,
It is definitely feeling like fall and time to start thinking about Christmas!

I'm sharing some of my cards with other Stampin' Up! demonstrators and crafters for the month of November so will post my creations here as well.

This week the challenge is "Let it Shine" - use glitter and rhinestones.  It is a perfect challenge as I start to think about Christmas.
This card is made using Serene Snowflakes and uses the Shaker Frames from the Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini.  These cars are so cute.  I used Glass Glitter in this one.

The Stitched Stocking Stamp Set and the Stocking Builder Punch is such an easy way to make beautiful cars!  I've also scored the white background using the Simply Scored tool - again very simple and quick to create a card everyone will love to receive this Christmas!

I will share some of my other cards later in the week.

Happy Stamping

Sweets for the Sweet!

Sunday 18 September 2011

It's birthday season again in my world and I need to make a card for a dear friend.  I always find it hard to make masculine cards, but this stamp set is great for all ages.

I used some of the new colours for this season - Island Indigo, Calypso Coral and Pool Party along with the new Stamp Set - pin wheels are all over the place and this card was so easy!

This card was so easy to make and I'm sure will be a big hit!

For more information on the products and the card, please contact me.

Thanks for dropping by.

Gently Falling

I just love the new stampset - Gently Falling and of course the coordinating Designer Series Paper.
We've just arrived home from a trip and our 13 month old puppy stayed with dear friends.

First a picture of Penny :)

She was so well taken care of and I made this card to say thank you!

Using the stamps as a collage to create a background is one of my favourite techniques.

If you want to learn more about this technique or see more samples of cards made with the stampset, email me!  I'd love to show you.

Thanks for dropping by.

Button Buddies - Oh sooo cute!

Monday 5 September 2011

I'm not usually drawn to "cutsy" stamp sets, but the moment I saw Button Buddies and some of the cards being made, I knew I just had to have it.

I just loved the simplicity of this set and a great way to embellish with just a button or maybe a ribbon!

These cards are made with the notecard and envelope set available in the Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalogue on page 182 and use all of the ideas from page 71 of the catalogue for the cards.  What a quick and easy way to create some fun cards or to make a gift for a friend.  Not cutting, just stamping and embellishing!  What could be easier and aren't they cute.

If you want to do more, it's easy to add Designer Series Paper, ribbon, brads - anything you want.

If you're interested in learning more about this quick and easy technique, contact me, I'd love to show you.

Thanks for dropping by!

A card for a masculine birthday

Tuesday 30 August 2011

My husband's birthday is coming up.  The card I made is actually his idea!  I was using the Pennant Parade Stampset recently and he commented that if I just turned the card "the other way" and put the pennants up and down, it would look like the "burgees" (or small flags that are hung up and down the masts of sailboats).  We're a sailing family so this card turned out perfectly!

I can't wait to give him this card on his birthday!

Thanks for dropping by!

Birthday Card and Present

Monday 29 August 2011

My sister is having a significant birthday this year and while we don't normally exchange gifts I knew I had to make her a gift for this birthday.

We made one of these card keeper boxes at the Stampin' Up! Convention.  The card keeper box and the fabric and designer paper are from the new Holiday Mini Spice Cake Product Suite available September 1st.

I love the colours and patterns in this set and I hope my sister will love them too!
The box top is covered with the Designer Fabric.  Inside there are 6 dividers all covered with coordinating Designer Series Paper.

The birthday card coordinates with the box - I love the Designer Buttons in this Product Suite - they are 1 1/2" in diameter and add just the right embellishment to the card.

I stamped the inside of the card as well - definitely adds a bit of "wow" factor to the card.

If you are interested in a class where you can make a box and matching card, contact me.  This would make a great Christmas gift!

Thanks for dropping by!

Still enjoying stamping and creating while on vacation!

Friday 19 August 2011

My husband and I and our puppy, Penny are enjoying two weeks vacation on our sailboat in the Gulf Islands.  I didn't bring any stamping stuff with me, but I never travel without my computer so I decided to spend some time playing with My Digital Studio (MDS).  It's a great way to enjoy Stampin' Up! products.  My goal over the next few months is to learn more about MDS and I'll post more samples.

For now, here are my first samples.

I was lucky to travel to Sydney, Australia in January 2011 for work and while there a few friends and I climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge - what an experience.  Here's the pictures to prove it.

My second sample is a card - these are so easy with MDS.  I think that Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso is my new favourite colour combination!

Well, that's it for now.  Happy Stamping! or Digitally creating!

Latest Creations!

Thursday 4 August 2011

I signed up for an "Every Stamp" Swap - it is an attempt to create cards using every stamp in the new Stampin Up! Idea Book and Catalogue.  I've been busy over the past couple of weeks designing and making 8 different cards with the stamps I selected.  It's been fun!  I'm finished and will be sending my cards off to the organizer this weekend.
Here are some of the cards I made.

This card is using the new "Easy Events" Stamp set.  It's a great set that allows you to make cards for all occasions.

I love the "Awash with Flowers" set.  It's really a two-step stamp set - you use the outline stamp and then fill it in with the "filler" stamp.  In this card, I only used the outline with Stazon ink on Vellum paper and then I coloured in the flower on the back of the vellum.  Don't you just love the new Ruffled Ribbon and the Wisteria Wonder colour!

I think this is my favourite card!  It's made with the Pretty Postage stamp set for the 2 outside stamps and the Fancy Fans letter press.  I used Versamark on the letterpress before running it through the Big Shot and then I used Clear Embossing Powder to give it the shine!  The centre strip is made using the "Crimper"

Stamp set is "Lovely as a Tree".  If you're looking for a very versatile set, this one is great for all occasions and for anyone.

Christmas is just around the corner.  I've used Bells & Boughs on water colour paper and then coloured in with water colour crayons.  To embellish I've added gold glass glitter to the flower centres and gold brads.

I had never thought of using these colours together, but somehow I was inspired.  The stamp set is "Circle Circus" and this is a quick and easy card to make.

Not my typical colour palette, but I like the end result.  This card uses the Triple Treat Flower stamp - it's one stamp, but the end result is a layered flower that is cut out using coordinating punches.

If you're interested in any of these designs, let me know - I'd be pleased to show you how to make all or any!

Have fun stamping!

Happy BC Day!

Starting the BC Day weekend early!

Friday 29 July 2011

It's the long weekend in BC and my husband, puppy and I are off on our sail boat to Bowen Island.  I sure hope the weather will cooperate - we've had such a bad summer, weather-wise and have only been out on the boat once.

I'm taking advantage of a little "me" time before I go and work on some swaps for an "Every Card Swap". I'll share those when I've finished them.

I realized that I hadn't posted pictures of the swaps I did for Convention.  I signed up for an organized swap - "Swap in your Jammies at the Marriott" - which was so much fun.  We all met in the lobby after the Kickoff Party on Wednesday night and swapped and got to know each other.  This was my swap card...

This card is designed with my favorite stamp set - Fabulous Florets and uses the Top Note Die in the Big Shot.  I've stamp the images on the background paper as well as on the piece cut with the Top Note Die.  After it was stamped, I ran it through the Big Shot again using the Lattice Embossing Folder.  I love this technique!

I also designed two other cards for the general swaps during convention.  Swapping is so much fun and you get to see so many other ideas and techniques.  I always come home with a list of "techniques to try"!

Again I used the Fabulous Florets stamp set with a colour combination I love - Baja Breeze and Early Espresso.

For the third card, I used the Strength and Courage Stampset.

Enjoy the weekend and take some time for your self!
