Honour House Stamp-a-Stack

Last Saturday I had the honour of participating in the 1st Annual Stamp-a-Stack in support of Honour House.

Honour House provides a home away from home and a place for recovery for members of the Canadian Forces, Emergency Services Personnel, Veterans and their families completely free of charge while they are receiving medical care and treatment in the Lower Mainland/Vancouver area.

We had a great team of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators (left to right):  Alison Solven (our fearless leader for the event), Ginny Duncan, Angela McKay, myself and Liane Binder.

The ladies who participated made 6 great cards designed by the Team and went home with some great prizes!  We raised over $3600 that will go to Honour House.

Everyone is hard at work!
Check out the prize table!

It's always such a great feeling when you support such a good cause.  If you're interested in learning more about Honour House, check out their website https://honourhouse.ca/# .

These were my sample cards for the event.

Do you have some favourites that are retiring?

I sure do.  I'm always sad to see the products that are retiring from the Stampin' Up! Catalogue, but that means they are making room for even more wonderful products.  This year is no exception!  I've seen the new catalogue and actually have some new products to start playing with.  That's one of the perks of being a SU! Demonstrator (interested in learning more, just ask!).

I wanted to share some of my favourites with you.

Getting ready for Stampin' Up! OnStage

I'm off to Calgary to attend the OnStage event on Saturday.  I love attending the Stampin' Up! events!  I get to catch up with friends that I don't see very often, meet new demonstrators and mostly get inspired by the amazing creations and projects that I see.

With the event being in Calgary, it provides a perfect opportunity to visit with my family that lives in Alberta. My sister will pick me up at the airport on Thursday and we'll go to Red Deer, AB to visit my other sister. Then both are coming back to Calgary with me and well stay at the conference hotel on Friday night.  While I'm attending OnStage on Saturday, they'll go shopping - something we all do pretty well (must be in the genes).

I'm participating in 2 organized swaps at OnStage and I wanted to share my cards.

This is a 3x3 gift card made using In This World.  I seem to be in a water colouring mood these days and this was so easy.  I used water colour paper and wetted it down with my aqua painter and then used Flirty Flamingo ink (picked up from the lid of my ink pad) and applied to the paper. Once it was dry I applied Gold Wink of Stella using the brush to the small splotch stamp from Gorgeous Grunge and stamped over the pink.  I stamped directly on top with the Archival Black Ink using the butterfly stamp and stamped a second image on water colour paper.  For the second image, I coloured it using my aqua painter and Peekaboo Peach ink.  You can go over it a few times to get a deeper colour.  I applied Clear Wink of Stella over top of the ink once it was dry (it's hard to see the shimmer in the picture) I added a little bit of Metallic Gold Thread under the popped up image.

Supply List:

142652 In This World (Clear)
130514 Gorgeous Grunge (Wood)
121045 Basic Black 8 ½” x 11” Card stock (6”x3” scored at 3”)
132622 Gold Foil Sheet (2 7/8” x 2 7/8”)
122959 Water Colour Paper (2 ¾” x 2 ¾”)
140931 Archival Stampin’ Pad, Basic Black
141397 Flirty Flamingo Classic Stampin’ Pad
141398 Peekaboo Peach Classic Stampin’ Pad
104430 Stampin' Dimensionals
138401 Gold Metallic Thread
141897 Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush

103954 Aqua Painter

My second card uses the Moroccan Nights stamp set.  For this card I stamped the lanterns on Vellum Cardstock using Dapper Denim and Emerald Envy and then embossed them using Clear Embossing Powder.  The inside of the lantern is coloured using Gold Wink of Stella.  The banner has 3 layers - Vellum with images, Emerald Envy and Early Espresso.  A little bit of Dapper Denim ruched ribbon and Emerald Envy Taffeta ribbon finished it off. This is popped up on the Designer Series Paper from the Moroccan Nights suite and then adhered to a Dapper Denim Cardstock base.  The sentiment is stamped and punched out using the Duet Banner punch and then adhered to the other punched piece in Emerald Envy.

Supply List:

141718 Moroccan Nights (clear)
141543 Weather Together (Polymer)
141414 Dapper Denim Card stock (4 ¼” x 11”)

Oh So Succulent Class and more...

It's hard to believe that it's almost the end of March.  Where has the time gone?  It's been a crazy winter here in the Lower Mainland of BC - lots of snow and cold.  We're just not used to that.  I think that we're back to normal now with rain and maybe spring is on the way.

I was at a crafting retreat on the weekend and decided I needed something to brighten up my house.  I've been seeing all of the amazing succulent creations on Pinterest and had watched a video on how to make a live succulent garden.  It was that video that inspired this project.

This project was really easy.  The work is in the cutting out using the Succulent Framelits Dies (Item 142757).  You need 9 pieces for each of the large succulents - 2 of each of the large pieces and 1 each of the small flowers. For the small flowers, I cut 1 of each size per flower.

Once you have them cut, you can sponge with different colours. I didn't sponge the small flowers.

  • Sweet SugarPlum succulents - I used Sweet SugarPlum, Crumb Cake and White Craft inks
  • Mint Macaron - I used Mint Macaron, Crumb Cake and White Craft inks
  • Old Olive - I used Rich Razzleberry ink
  • Crumb Cake - I used Crumb Cake ink
The base is a wooden artists pallet I bought at the dollar store and painted with acrylic paints and filled with basket filling.  You could use sphagnum moss as well.

It was so much fun to put this together!

Interested in attending my class for this project?  I'm holding a class where you can make this project on April 23rd at 1pm.  Cost is $30 and includes all of the materials you'll need.  You need to pre-register by April 16th so that I can have your kit cut.  Register by visiting my FaceBook page or by visiting my Blog and clicking on Classes and Events.
